Starkey launched the Muse in March this year with the promise that music lovers would be blown away. For the first time ever there would be a hearing device with a seperate and singular focus on music. Well it appears that they may have been right, since launching the devices have been receiving rave reviews from both the patients who wear them, and the hearing professionals who fit them. 

Traditionally, hearing instruments have focused on making speech crisp and clear. But speech and music are two different sounds entirely. What is good for speech understanding is not necessarily good for the appreciation of music. Every hearing aid manufacturer knows this. 

The ideal solution is to process the sounds very differently. However, prior to the introduction of Muse, no hearing aid manufacturer has done that. Music was processed through the same system as speech. Which ensured that users who liked their music often described it as sounding dull or tinny or distorted.
