Widex Com Dex Remote Microphone

Widex introduces two new products at EUHA

By David Bryce on 22nd October 2016

It appears that Widex was not happy with just launching one new product at EUHA (international hearing aid conference) it decided to launch two. It finally introduced a remote microphone system and a made for iPhone hearing aid.

Com Dex Remote Mic

A video surfaced online last week detailing the working and pairing of the new Com Dex Remote Mic. The remote mic is quite slim and reminiscent of the Com Dex to which it will connect. As per usual with Widex it appears they have put plenty of thought into the design and functionality of the device. Here is the video:

The new device will be a welcome addition to the Dex line up. We know that Remote Mics are fantastic accessories for wireless hearing aids and their ommission in the Dex line was strange and irritating for us. A remote mic can mean the difference between hearing in a noisy place and not, especially if you are wearing a lower technology hearing aid.

Buying a cheaper technology level of hearing aid and adding a remote mic to it can be a life saver for people who would like to hear in more complex sound situations. We think that the Com Dex Remote Mic should be launched pretty soon in the UK.

The Widex Beyond

Widex Beyond FusionThey also introduced the Widex Beyond, their first ever made for iPhone hearing aid. It is based on the Fusion hearing device and it has both Widex Link wireless system and a high grade Bluetooth radio. It will connect directly to an iPhone or Android smart phone without an intermediary device, allowing you to stream audio from your phone directly to your hearing aids.

They also introduced a Beyond App for the iPhone which allows deeper control of the device. They have retained the Widex Link system though, so the Beyond will be compatible with all of their existing wireless accessories.

This makes perfect sense because existing users will still be able to use their Dex accessories if they upgrade to the Beyond. It will be interesting to see how they sound when released, crossing direct to iPhone with the high quality of Widex sound is probably going to be fantastic. I can't actually wait. Again, we will let you know more as we know more.
